Pantone Color of the Year 2026 Revealed

Cloud Dancer, a “billowy, balanced white imbued with a feeling of serenity,” is Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year. Given the strife, violence, and division of the past year, this light, airy hue is meant to be a blank canvas and a fresh start. 

“At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete hue offering a promise of clarity,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.”

Like many things in this divided world, Cloud Dancer provoked a strong reaction among the Food & Wine team. While some see it as a timeless neutral that never goes out of style, others view it as a “reflection of our current, fast-paced creative climate: inspired but rarely original.” Still more hoped that Pantone would have named a bold color, rather than a “safe and boring” one — even going so far as to liken it to the popular “sad beige” trend from a few years ago.
