4 Water Filter Pitchers to Reduce Arsenic Levels

  • We found water filter pitchers from ZeroWater, Epic Water, and Clearly Filtered proven to remove unsafe levels of arsenic from drinking water.
  • Both a November study and EPA reports show that elevated arsenic in water can cause cancer and chronic illness over time.
  • Our list only includes water filters from brands that share complete arsenic-filtering performance data.

If you drink water from the tap, making it taste purer is fairly easy nowadays: Simply buy a water filter pitcher to remove the metallic, mineral flavors and numerous contaminants, like lead, copper, and pesky microplastics. Now, one particular toxin you may want to be more cautious of is arsenic, according to a new study released on November 17, 2025.

Published to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Network by an international coalition of researchers, the analysis shows that people who drank water with consistently high or increasing arsenic levels had a higher risk of death from chronic diseases and cancer. The study followed 11,000 Bangladeshi well-water drinkers over 20 years, examining the effects of ingesting water with varying arsenic levels. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the legal American standard for safe drinking water is 10 parts per billion. The study observed drinking water containing arsenic at levels ranging from one to over 800 parts per billion, and its results have stark implications for drinking water everywhere.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that nearly half of Americans rely on groundwater, which is more likely to contain elevated levels of arsenic. Combined with new research and EPA assessments, the arsenic levels of American drinking water have prompted organizations like the Environmental Working Group (EWG) to petition the EPA, requesting a lower standard of four parts per billion to reduce the risk of arsenic-related cancers. Nevertheless, research and lobbying take time. With mounting evidence of arsenic’s harmful long-term effects, it’s up to individuals to take cleaner water into their own hands, and one of the best ways to do so is by using at-home water filters. Luckily for you, we identified models certified to remove significant amounts of arsenic from your tap water, with some reaching 10 times below the United States standard.

Best Arsenic Water Filter Pitchers

ZeroWater 10-Cup Round Water Filter Pitcher

In our own testing, we found this pitcher faultless, and it’s backed by researchers: A Dartmouth study evaluated how well popular water filter pitchers removed arsenic from water at levels 10 times above the United States limit, and the ZeroWater was the only pitcher that could bring the levels under the legal ceiling. In fact, its ion-exchange filtration reduced arsenic to less than 1 part per billion — well under the EWG’s recommendation.

Epic Water 10-Cup Epic Nano Water Filter Pitcher

Epic Water’s nanofilters are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), one of the foremost authorities on water filtration testing standards, to reduce arsenic levels in water to .002 parts per billion — almost completely. The nanofiltration pitcher is expensive, but it features a stylish wooden handle and fits in most standard refrigerator door shelves thanks to its 6-inch width.

Epic Water Epic Pure 36-Cup Water Filter Dispenser

Amazon

If you need a larger water source for around the same price as a pitcher, Epic Water’s independent testing showed that the Epic Pure filter brought arsenic levels from 47 down to 2.9 parts per billion. Set this lug on a countertop or fridge shelf for fewer refills and more healthy drinking water.

Clearly Filtered 10-Cup Water Filter Pitcher

Although full disclosure of the filter materials would be nice for transparency and buyer awareness, Clearly Filtered’s performance data is still impressive. Not only does it reduce arsenic contamination to under 1 part per billion, but it also doesn’t target healthy minerals like potassium and calcium, which can make your water taste and nourish better.

Our short list may not be exhaustive. Most water filter brands don’t disclose a full performance data sheet to support claims about reducing arsenic contamination, so we only included water filter pitchers that are backed by explicit, lab-tested data.
