Norwegian Cruise Line Just Launched Its First Caribbean Cruises From Jacksonville

Jacksonville has a new way to sail to the Caribbean. Norwegian Cruise Line has officially launched its first-ever voyages from the city, with the Norwegian Gem now homeporting at JAXPORT for the winter season.

The move brings a new wave of itineraries to the region — from short Bahamas getaways to longer Caribbean journeys — as Norwegian expands its footprint in the Southeast. Sailings will operate from November through April each year through 2028.

For travelers, it’s a convenient new option: Jacksonville is within a day’s drive for nearly 100 million people, with the cruise terminal located just minutes from Jacksonville International Airport and major interstates.

“From quick escapes to the Bahamas, where guests can look forward to new experiences at our private island, Great Stirrup Cay, to extended Caribbean adventures, guests sailing from Jacksonville can expect the world-class service, cuisine and entertainment that define a Norwegian Cruise Line vacation,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line, in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal.

On board the Norwegian Gem, guests can unwind at the Mandara Spa and Salon, dine across 12 restaurants, and enjoy 14 different bars and lounges. Evening entertainment ranges from “Blazing Boots,” a pop-country tribute, to the in-house dance production “Ignite the Night,” among other touches.

Itineraries include stops at Great Stirrup Cay — soon to debut a 1.4-acre pool complex with swim-up bars and family areas — along with Grand Bahama Island, Key West, Puerto Rico, Antigua and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

With Norwegian now part of Jacksonville’s cruise lineup, travelers have a new gateway to warm waters, island adventures, and the line’s signature “freestyle” approach to Caribbean cruising.
