Class of 2019
Nite Yun was raised on her family’s Cambodian home cooking in California’s Central Valley and traveled to her parents’ country of origin as an adult to feast on street fare. Back home in Oakland, she opened her first restaurant, Nyum Bai, where she continued to explore the Cambodian dishes of her childhood, rarely seen across the Bay Area. When that lease ended, she crossed the bay and opened Lunette in the Ferry Building in 2024. Spotlighting rice dishes and noodle soups steeped in nostalgia, it’s currently among the few restaurants in the Bay Area focusing on Khmer food. Yun and her cooking were featured in the “Noodles” season of “Chef’s Table.”
