Misen Carbon Nonstick Non-Toxic Skillet Review

Recently, I’ve been on a mission to detox my kitchen. I’ve swapped all my black plastic utensils for wooden alternatives, switched to all glass and ceramic food storage containers, and even got a non-toxic air fryer. The one thing I hadn’t been able to part with, though, was my nonstick skillet. I make eggs multiple times a week, and they’ve stuck to every non-coated pan I’ve ever used. That is, until now. For the past few months, I’ve been testing the popular Misen carbon nonstick frying pan, and I finally gave up my toxic nonstick skillet.

According to Elliott Bell, Misen’s head of culinary, this pan is “a new take on nonstick cookware” — and I couldn’t agree more. The pan is taking the internet by storm. It’s 15% off with the coupon code GOINGFAST15.

Unlike traditional carbon steel pans, this carbon nonstick pan requires no special care or maintenance. It has an aluminum core for quick, even heating and a surprisingly lightweight feel. What really sets it apart from others is the smooth, nonstick exterior, which is achieved through nitriding, a process that involves heat-treating the metal to create a hard, corrosion-resistant surface.

This process makes the pan easier to use and care for than standard carbon steel. Bell noted that many home cooks find carbon steel difficult to work with: “It’s a steep learning curve that turned off a lot of people, so we tried to create an easier-to-own carbon steel pan as a better alternative for people looking to move to coatingless cookware,” he said.

Bell calls the Misen Carbon Nonstick Pan “an ideal gateway to cooking with carbon steel,” and he may be right. I’ve used the skillet over high heat without damaging it and use metal utensils without leaving a scratch. I love that I can clean this pan like I would any other piece of cookware — I don’t even need to season it.

Since it’s completely coatingless, this frying pan won’t wear down over time, making it just as durable as traditional steel. In fact, Misen claims that the pan’s nonstick properties will only improve over time — something I’m already experiencing two months in with regular use. It’s developing little black and brown spots, a sign that it’s developing a patina, according to the brand.

It’s no surprise that this revolutionary pan is trending online, but I was shocked to see that Misen cut 15% off ahead of the holiday season. Shop now and use the code GOINGFAST15 to save.
