Whether it’s new kitchen knives, whisks, or vegetable peelers (to name just a few), there’s a good stock of kitchen gadgets available at Williams Sonoma, and they’re inexpensive: $15 or less.

Victorinox Paring Knives

Small, detailed tasks like peeling vegetables, hulling strawberries, or deveining shrimp are best handled by a good paring knife, like this 2-piece set by Victorinox. While it is dishwasher-safe, I’d be tempted to hand-wash it and dry it with a kitchen towel to keep it looking its best and ensure there are no water spots on this spreader.

We found the carbon steel blade amazingly sharp, shaving curled garnishes from hard cheeses and peeling potatoes with ease.
