This Amazon Tiny House Brings Nature Indoors

I’ve got a long-standing dream of moving to the Southern Appalachians, buying some land, planting peach and apple trees, and living out my life quietly while brewing apple cider and distilling peach brandy as a livelihood. One draw of that dream is being part of the natural setting — whether I’m indoors or out — and that requires tall windows and an outdoor living space. Construction costs might be prohibitive in attaining my dream setting, but I have found one solution: Amazon has the perfect tiny house that ticks all those boxes and more.

This customizable tiny home offers just under 400 square feet of living space in its basic configuration. A primary bedroom with an en-suite bathroom occupies one side, while the other side features a smaller bedroom, closet space, and an additional bathroom. Tall windows provide epic views from both bedrooms, and between the bedrooms is an open living space featuring a small kitchen, a living room, and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the front. The bedrooms jut out just a bit to form an alcove that’s perfect for building a deck or patio, allowing you to bring the outdoors in and claim some al fresco living space. The views and convenience are tempting, and I could build an outdoor kitchen with a grill, a smoker, and even a fire pit with the money I would save on construction.

As I currently live in a hurricane-prone area, I also worry about factors such as wind resistance. Luckily, the tiny home’s exterior construction is built around a frame of square steel tubing, has an earthquake rating of 9, and carries a wind rating of 11, which is the step below hurricane winds. That’s not great for Florida living, but my dream doesn’t involve staying here. Plus, this tiny house also offers many customization and expansion options that don’t tie you to the default floor plan or square footage.

The tiny home’s construction is a series of interlocking panels that can be assembled and disassembled quickly (should you decide you want to move it). And since it’s my dream scenario where I get to call the shots — no matter how far-fetched — I might want to move the house with the seasons to follow the sun. The idea of a flexible indoor-outdoor living space for under $20,000 suits me well when I consider what my simple end goal consists of. I’m not in any hurry to get to it, but this tiny home might just be the idea that brings me closer to my dream.
