The New Four Seasons Cartagena Is Now Opening in 2026

One of the Caribbean coast’s most anticipated luxury hotel openings will now have to wait a little longer. Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena has officially pushed back its debut, moving the opening timeline to early 2026.

Set in Cartagena’s vibrant Getsemaní neighborhood, just steps from the city’s UNESCO-listed Walled City, the project has been drawing international attention for its blend of historic restoration and contemporary design. Four Seasons is transforming a collection of landmark buildings, including the 16th-century San Francisco Temple and the 1920s Beaux-Arts Club Cartagena, into a 131-key luxury hotel and private residences.

When complete, Four Seasons Cartagena will feature 131 accommodations, eight restaurants and bars, a rooftop pool, and a spa and wellness center. The rooftop is designed to offer panoramic views over Cartagena’s Old Town and the Caribbean Sea, while the interiors will blend colonial romance with modern design.

The property’s location in Getsemaní — a neighborhood known for its street art, live music and preserved local culture — positions it just outside the historic Walled City, making it one of the most strategically located luxury openings in the region.

The hotel plans to offer curated experiences that connect guests with Cartagena’s culture and natural surroundings. These include guided street art workshops in Getsemaní, salsa lessons led by professional dancers, and nature treks to observe endangered cotton-top tamarin monkeys in nearby reserves. Guests will also be able to charter luxury yachts to explore the Rosario Islands and Isla Barú, two of Colombia’s most beautiful Caribbean destinations.

The Cartagena property is part of Four Seasons’ growing investment in the region, joining sister resorts in The Bahamas, Anguilla, Costa Rica and Mexico and in-the-pipeline projects in places like Belize and the Dominican Republic.

That’s without mentioning the new Four Seasons Puerto Rico, a rebranding of the former St Regis Bahia Beach, opening this fall.

Originally slated to open earlier, Four Seasons Cartagena is now scheduled to debut in early 2026, according to the company’s website.

Booking is not yet open for the property.
