Yelp just released its definitive list of the best coffee shops on its platform, highlighting a Las Vegas hotspot as the top brew in the country. Yaw Farm Coffee Roaster, which boasts 95% five-star reviews on Yelp, is officially named the best cup nationwide, according to the list released today. Owned by the husband-and-wife team of Jillian and Ian, this roastery focuses on careful sourcing, expert pour-over techniques, and a homemade blackberry syrup. 

This Nevada cafe doesn’t even have seating or Wi-Fi, which emphasizes the quality of its coffee and the personalized service it offers. In reviews, visitors still describe the experience as “welcoming, friendly, and patient.” 

So, what exactly makes Yaw Farm — and the 99 other shops on this list — the best places for coffee?

That’s a tall order, so Yelp narrows down the top contenders with a straightforward method: Researchers identified listings in the Coffee & Tea category and then ranked restaurants based on factors like review volume and average ratings. Each metro area is limited to a maximum of five listings — meaning there isn’t a single city takeover — and all businesses had a passing health score at the time of the assessment.

Unique syrups perform exceptionally well in Yelp reviews. In the announcement, Yelp reveals that searches for “banana bread latte” increased by 6,267% this July — making the popular Cassel Earth Coffee in Irvine, California, which makes a delicious banana latte, a national favorite. That sweet craving is only intensified in einspanner, a Viennese espresso-based drink with rich, sweetened cream, served at places like Markario Coffee Roasters.

“This year’s list shows that consumers are chasing the coffee trends on their feeds more than ever,” Tara Lewis, Yelp trend expert and vice president of consumer expansion, tells Food & Wine. “As temperatures start to cool, it’s clear consumers are seeking more than just a simple hot coffee this fall, but instead are on the hunt for unique flavors, quality ingredients, and even romanticizing their morning ritual through a sense of community in every sip.” 

Aside from the trending flavors, Yelp highlights the cafes that are consistently enjoyed by travelers and locals alike. 

If you ever find yourself in New Orleans, consider starting your day or ending your night at St. Pat’s Irish Coffeehouse near the French Quarter. This family-run café and bar is popular for its classic coffee offerings, including a house-made Lavender syrup, and a curated selection of whiskey-spiked Irish coffees. Here’s a tip from locals: Yelp reviewers suggest taking your cup to the “fairy garden” courtyard in the back. 

Rainbeau Jo’s, aptly named, features a colorful shop and even more vibrant to-go cups, serving fair-trade coffee in Kauai, Hawaii. This food truck-turned-coffee shop notably offers “Rainbeau ‘Ritas,” which blend ice cream, coffee, and syrup for a summertime treat. 

Naturally, Yelp reviewers also appreciate a well-made dessert. At Pangolin Cafe in Reno, visitors can enjoy homemade Turkish Delight while sipping their coffee. This pairs well with the coffee shop’s strawberry matcha and the “perfectly sweetened” Cubano Breve, as satisfied reviewers mention. Other shops, like 1022 Cafe & Gelateria, serve house-made affogato (made from gelato that’s also featured on one of Yelp’s top lists).
