Norwegian Cruise Line has officially introduced its newest ship, Norwegian Luna, giving guests a first look at the ship as it begins its inaugural transatlantic voyage and prepares to start sailing from Miami to destinations across the Caribbean and Bahamas.
The ship welcomed its first guests last week in Rome, Italy. That voyage marks the beginning of the ship’s entry into service before its U.S. debut in Miami on March 23, where it will begin operating Caribbean itineraries.
Once the ship arrives in Miami, Norwegian Cruise Line will host the official christening ceremony on March 27, marking the start of its first full Caribbean season.
“Norwegian Luna is an absolutely beautiful ship and the true definition of what it means to cruise with NCL,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, in a statement. “After getting a first look at the ship, I am so excited for guests to enjoy the wide-open outdoor spaces bringing them closer to the sea, the intimate areas to retreat to and the electrifying entertainment and mouthwatering cuisine.”
Caribbean Cruises Begin From Miami
After the christening ceremony, Norwegian Luna will begin sailing a mix of three- and four-day Bahamas voyagesalong with seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises from Miami.
These itineraries will run from April through November, with stops at destinations including Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas.
Great Stirrup Cay has recently undergone a series of upgrades ahead of the ship’s arrival. The destination now features a new pier and tram service, allowing ships to dock directly and making it easier to move around the island.
New attractions include Great Life Lagoon, a large pool complex with swim-up bars, loungers and cabanas, along with Vibe Shore Club, an adults-only beach retreat with private beach access and its own bar.
Another major addition is scheduled to debut in summer 2026 with the opening of Great Tides Waterpark. The new attraction will include 19 waterslides, an 800-foot water feature called the Wandering River, and Splash Cay, a 9,000-square-foot family splash zone.
A Ship Built Around Outdoor Spaces
Norwegian Luna builds on the design platform introduced with Norwegian Aqua, emphasizing open-air areas and activity zones across the ship’s upper decks.
One of the most talked-about features is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid attraction combining elements of a roller coaster and waterslide. The ride recently received the “Best Water Park Ride/Attraction” award from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions.
Other new experiences on board include Luna Midway, an outdoor amusement area filled with carnival-style games, and Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course designed for both kids and adults.
You can also spend time at Horizon Park, a complimentary recreation area on the top decks featuring lawn-style games and open-air gathering space.
These attractions place a strong emphasis on outdoor fun and multigenerational activities throughout the ship.
Relaxation Spaces on Board
Alongside the activity zones, Norwegian Luna includes several areas designed for relaxation.
The ship features a two-story Mandara Spa with treatment rooms, saunas and an expansive Thermal Suite offering 180-degree ocean views.
If you prefer a quieter sun deck, the ship also offers the Vibe Beach Club, an adults-only area with loungers, cabanas and a bar serving cocktails and drinks.
Accommodations across the ship range from studio cabins designed for solo guests to inside, oceanview and balcony staterooms.
You can also book suites within The Haven by Norwegian, the cruise line’s exclusive ship-within-a-ship concept that includes a private restaurant, lounge, bar and sundeck along with butler and concierge service.
New Shows and Dining Experiences
Entertainment on Norwegian Luna includes new productions created by NCL’s Creative Studios.
The lineup features “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John™,” a concert-style show highlighting the music of Sir Elton John. Another production called “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder™” combines acrobatics, dance and multimedia visual design.
Dining on the ship includes several complimentary venues such as Hudson’s, Commodore Room and Indulge Food Hall, a dining space offering a variety of international cuisine options.
You can also reserve tables at specialty restaurants including Sukhothai for Thai cuisine, Onda by Scarpetta for Italian dishes, Le Bistro for French cooking and Cagney’s, Norwegian Cruise Line’s signature steakhouse.
Western Caribbean Sailings Later in 2026
Beginning in November 2026, Norwegian Luna will shift to Western Caribbean itineraries.
These cruises will include stops in Roatán in Honduras, Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island destination located off the coast of Belize.
Harvest Caye features a large pool complex, beach areas, restaurants and adventure attractions designed exclusively for cruise guests.
A Future Season From New York
Norwegian Luna’s deployment will expand further in 2027.
On April 6, 2027, the ship will begin sailing from New York City, offering four- to seven-day Bermuda cruises that include overnight stays at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
For now, the ship’s focus remains on Miami, where its arrival this month launches a new season of Bahamas and Caribbean sailings aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest vessel.
