Caribbean Airlines Is Adding Daily Toronto Flights to Guyana This Summer

A Caribbean Airlines jet lifts off from Toronto and points south toward Guyana, a route that has become one of the most important air links between Canada and the Caribbean basin.

Now that connection is getting a major boost.

Caribbean Airlines will launch daily nonstop service between Toronto and Georgetown, Guyana, beginning July 1, expanding capacity on a route that has seen growing demand from leisure travelers, business passengers and the large Guyanese community in Canada.

The move gives travelers more options during one of the busiest travel periods of the year and adds another important link between North America and one of the Caribbean region’s fastest-growing destinations.

A Bigger Air Bridge Between Canada and Guyana

The new schedule means Caribbean Airlines will operate the Toronto-Georgetown route every day, giving passengers significantly more flexibility when planning trips.

Beginning July 1, the carrier will operate:

BW 616 departing Georgetown, Guyana at 9:20 a.m. daily for Toronto Pearson International Airport.

BW 617 departing Toronto Pearson International Airport at 4:50 p.m. daily for Georgetown, Guyana.

The expanded service arrives as Guyana continues to attract increasing attention from travelers, investors and business visitors. The country’s rapid economic growth has fueled higher travel demand, while family and diaspora traffic between Canada and Guyana remains a major driver of passenger numbers.

Why This Route Matters Right Now

Few Caribbean destinations have generated as much momentum as Guyana over the last several years.

Travel demand has surged alongside new hotel development, increased international business activity and growing interest in the country’s eco-tourism sector.

Toronto has long been one of the most important gateways for travelers heading to Guyana. The city is home to a substantial Guyanese community, making the route a critical link for family visits, cultural connections and year-round travel.

Adding daily service gives passengers more options for shorter trips, easier itinerary planning and greater schedule flexibility during the summer travel season.

The route also strengthens connectivity between Canada and Guyana, a market that has seen rising airlift investment as airlines respond to growing demand.

Caribbean Airlines Continues Network Growth

The expansion is another sign of Caribbean Airlines’ continued focus on Guyana, one of the carrier’s strongest-performing markets.

According to Caribbean Airlines CEO Ag. Varma Khillawan, the airline sees Guyana as one of its fastest-growing destinations.

“Guyana remains one of the airline’s most important and fastest-growing markets,” Khillawan said. “The introduction of daily Toronto to Georgetown flights reflects our commitment to meeting customer demand and strengthening connectivity between Guyana and North America.”

The airline says the added flights are designed to support travelers heading to Guyana for business, leisure, education and family visits while providing additional convenience throughout the summer season and beyond.

Caribbean Airlines has continued investing in its network, connecting destinations across the Caribbean, North America and South America.

What Travelers Can Expect in Georgetown

The increased service comes as Georgetown continues to evolve as a destination.

Visitors arriving in Guyana find a capital city marked by historic wooden architecture, bustling commercial districts and a growing collection of hotels, restaurants and business-focused accommodations.

The city also serves as the gateway to some of South America’s most remarkable natural attractions.

From Georgetown, travelers can journey inland to Kaieteur Falls, one of the world’s most dramatic waterfalls. The country is also home to vast rainforest reserves, river excursions, wildlife experiences and Indigenous community tourism initiatives that continue drawing international visitors.

Recent hotel investment has expanded accommodation choices, particularly for travelers combining business and leisure trips.

A Strong Summer Travel Option

The timing of the expansion is significant.

July marks the beginning of a busy summer travel period, with family travel and diaspora traffic traditionally increasing throughout the season.

Daily flights make it easier for travelers to find schedules that fit vacation plans, family visits and business commitments. The additional capacity may also improve seat availability during periods when demand is strongest.

For travelers departing Canada, the new schedule provides another convenient option for reaching Guyana nonstop.

For passengers beginning their journeys in Guyana, daily service delivers greater flexibility for trips to Toronto, one of North America’s largest international gateways.

What It Means For Caribbean Travel

Airlift remains one of the biggest drivers of tourism growth throughout the Caribbean basin, and additional flights often translate into stronger visitor arrivals, increased business activity and expanded travel opportunities.

The Toronto-Georgetown route serves multiple travel segments simultaneously, including tourism, corporate travel, education and family connections.

As Guyana’s international profile continues to grow (in large part due to its newly-discovered offshore oil reserves), airlines are increasingly positioning themselves to capture that demand.

Caribbean Airlines’ decision to operate the route daily underscores the importance of the market for both the carrier and the broader region.

Beginning July 1, travelers will have a new level of flexibility when flying between Toronto and Georgetown, with daily nonstop service strengthening one of the Caribbean basin’s fastest-growing international travel corridors.

Where To Stay In Georgetown

Travelers arriving on the new flights will find an expanding hotel landscape in Georgetown. The Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown remains one of the city’s leading business and leisure properties, with waterfront views, a large pool deck and multiple dining venues. The Pegasus Hotel Guyana continues to be a popular choice near the city center, while newer international brands have entered the market as demand continues to rise.

With daily flights now on the schedule, getting to Guyana is becoming easier than ever for Canadian travelers looking to explore one of the Caribbean region’s most dynamic destinations.
