Last summer, after seeing Vacheron’s La Quête Du Temps in person long before its public debut, I took a long, winding car ride to Junod’s hometown, about a hundred kilometers from Geneva. From afar, the atelier blends in as just one of the many houses in the village. But up close, some things start feeling a bit different from all the other houses in the village. Sure, a giant bolted metal sign on a balcony with “AUTOMATE” might give it away, but perhaps it’s the two gigantic colorful bird sculptures on the top balcony that really hint at the weird and wacky treasures that lie inside. And what treasures indeed.
