Best Non-Toxic Kitchen Gadgets 2025

As a food editor, I test kitchen products all year — from January 1 to December 31. Throughout 2025, my goal was to be more intentional with what makes it into my routine and what doesn’t. Toxic gadgets are one category of kitchen gear that did not cut it. Instead of settling for kitchen tools full of potential hazards like flame retardants and microplastic particles, I have been trying to swap those pieces for better alternatives. Thankfully, there were some clear standouts.

Whether it’s beeswax wrap or airtight glass containers, the items below have made it so low-effort to reach for them over their plastic counterparts that I rarely think about the latter. And best of all? Most of them are between $10 and $35, making them excellent gifts for yourself or loved ones this year.

As a former pastry cook, it’s pretty much guaranteed that I’ll never go without plastic wrap. It’s ingrained in my baking routine as an essential kitchen tool because it performs in ways many other materials can’t. However, I know that I need to minimize my use as much as possible. That’s why I purchased beeswax wrap this year. This genius wrap uses a sleek wax coating that seals with the warmth of your hands. Now, I use it instead of plastic wrap to seal up fruits, cover bowls, and store bread, among other occasional kitchen tasks. Flairosol Olivia Tinted Glass Oil Sprayer

This year, I was searching for a way to mist oil on my ingredients prior to putting them into the air fryer or oven, but two major issues kept arising in my quest: Containers on the market were often made with only plastic, and spray bottles in the store had unwanted additives. Then I came across this Flairosol bottle, which checks a lot of boxes for my partner and me. We liked that its base is made with tinted glass to protect the oil from light and keep the plastic level down. It finely mists oil with just the right amount of pressure, evenly coating items like tofu, broccoli, salmon, and potatoes. All I need to do is fill it with my favorite olive oil, and I’m good to go. 

12-Inch Teak Spatula Turner & Flipper

Wood is one of the most non-toxic materials for cooking, and we love it for utensils. This 12-inch teak spatula and turner might look a little different than the utensils you are used to, but hear us out. It is fantastic for so many tasks, and it won’t scratch your pans. We love it for breaking up ground beef in a pan, and it does a good job of scraping up the fond when making gravies. Just make sure you wash it by hand to keep it looking its best.

I exclusively use wooden cutting boards in my kitchen, and I needed a set that wasn’t too expensive, came with variety, and didn’t cost hundreds of dollars. These brilliant silicone containers are way better than any plastic counterpart they may have. Why? They come with 1-cup sections to perfectly portion sauces, fruit butters, citrus juice, soups, and more. Included is a lid that keeps everything tightly sealed and stackable. These have been such a nice addition to my kitchen this fall because they’re particularly helpful for keeping things like tomato sauce, apple butter, and other cozy recipes stowed away for winter.

Rubbermaid’s glass storage container set is a must-buy even when it is not on sale. The containers have lids that seal tightly, keeping what’s inside fresh for longer.
