Amex Platinum Adds $400 in Dining Credits With Resy

  • American Express Platinum Card members now receive up to $400 annually in statement credits for dining at Resy’s 10,000 partner restaurants, plus a $120 Uber One membership credit.
  • The card’s annual fee has increased to $895, though Amex estimates members can access about $3,500 in yearly benefits across dining, retail, and travel.
  • Exclusive dining perks include Platinum Nights by Resy, which offers cardholder-only reservations at sought-after restaurants like Claud in New York and Quarter Sheets in Los Angeles.

If you often volunteer to pay with your card at group dinners — all for the sake of earning those hard-earned points — then perhaps this news is for you.

American Express has just expanded benefits for Platinum Card members, including a significant Resy credit for cardholders. Members can now earn up to $400 in statement credits for dining at Resy’s approximately 10,000 restaurants nationwide, according to a company press release. Additionally, a new $120 Uber One membership credit helps cover the cost of post-dinner rides.

Cardholders must opt into the program, American Express says, and account credits can take up to eight weeks to show up. Additionally, dining purchases must be made with the Platinum card directly at the restaurant or through Resy’s booking software. Members can only redeem $100 per quarter (which doesn’t roll over, unfortunately), and American Express limits the program to “eligible purchases” on dining only — so no gift cards or keepsake mugs.

Platinum cardmembers spent more than $87 billion on dining last year, according to Resy’s recent press release. In fact, Amex’s internal data shows that dining was evidently the largest spending category among U.S. Platinum Card users in 2024.

One less thrilling change coming to Amex’s most iconic card, however? Annual fees now cost members $895, up from $695 annually. In this week’s update, American Express estimates that members can now access roughly $3,500 in benefits across dining, retail, and travel — which, ideally, offsets some of that expensive annual fee. It includes the latest Resy perk, which provides $100 in statement credits for each quarter.

Platinum Nights by Resy, which offers exclusive reservations for cardholders at hard-to-book restaurants, is another advantage. New York spots like Claud and Tatiana, along with Los Angeles’ Quarter Sheets, are available on select nights for Platinum Card reservations.

All in all, the Amex Platinum is often regarded as the enviable card for business owners and everyday consumers. This chrome credit card was first introduced in 1984 as an invite-only program, expanding to include various travel and service benefits, such as flight and dining partnerships.

This latest move signals a deepening collaboration between Resy and the credit card company, which acquired the booking platform in 2019. At the time, the company said it aimed to leverage Resy’s rapidly growing portfolio of top-rated restaurants to offer new experiences for exclusive cardholders — a strategy further underlined in the latest benefit expansion.

“Resy was created to both connect people who love dining out with new, notable, and hard-to-get-into restaurants across the globe, as well as help restaurants’ businesses grow and thrive,” Chris Cracchiolo, former senior vice president of global loyalty and benefits, stated in 2019. “Similarly, American Express has strong relationships with premium dining partners and restaurants across the globe, and provides our card members with access to incredible dining experiences through our exclusive benefits and programs.”

Platinum cardholders already enjoy access to exclusive lounges, hard-to-get reservations, and unique dining experiences through the platform, which includes 1,550 airport lounges worldwide and upgraded Centurion Lounges at 15 domestic airports. The culinary team recently revamped those menus in partnership with Resy, offering crafted dishes from chefs such as Kwame Onwuachi, a 2019 Food & Wine Best New Chef
