Salamander Collection has appointed Bertrand Mangeot as the new managing director of Salamander Washington DC, the recently revitalized 373-room hotel on the southwest waterfront of the nation’s capital.

Bertrand brings more than two decades of hospitality experience across three countries and three brands with a focus on luxury guest service, business growth and strategic planning. He joins Salamander from InterContinental San Diego, where he served as General Manager since 2023. He spent over 21 years with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, where he held leadership roles in New York, Cleveland, Toronto, Atlanta, and San Diego, managing AAA Four Diamond properties and delivering successful repositioning and strong financial performance. He also previously led the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel in Atlanta and the Kimpton Saint George in Toronto.

Born and raised in France, Bertrand began his hospitality career with Karibea Hotels in Martinique, supporting the finance function. He holds a Master’s Degree in Finance and Management from the Dijon Business School in Dijon, France, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Notre-Dame Du Grandchamp in Versailles, France. He also has qualifications in Food Service Management, and Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management. He has relocated to the DC area with his wife Jessica and their son Antoine. Outside of work, the Mangeots love being in nature, enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants and following international rugby.

Since bringing its style of welcoming and inclusive hospitality to the D.C. area, Salamander has been redefining its experience through thoughtful updates that blend modern sophistication with residential warmth. The hotel recently emerged from a remarkable transformation which features a stunning new Living Room upon arrival, a redesigned Lobby Lounge with a secluded and landscaped courtyard, reimagined suites designed by the renowned Thomas Pheasant, a spectacular dual-level spa, and Dōgon – an innovative dining destination led by renowned Chef Kwame Onwuachi, and recognized as one of the hottest restaurants in the country.
