A new all-inclusive resort with 17 dining outlets. A rooftop bar with panoramic Caribbean views. Swim-out suites that open directly onto the pool. And a Marriott Bonvoy points integration.
That’s the new Royalton Vessence Barbados, the long-anticipated all-inclusive resort on Barbados’s Platinum Coast that has officially welcomed its first guests — marking both the debut of Royalton Hotels & Resorts’ new Vessence brand globally and the company’s first-ever resort in Barbados.
It’s one of the more notable new openings in the Caribbean so far this year, and one that has been on hotel watchers’ radar since the property was first announced. Now that it’s open, the resort lands as a serious entry into one of the most-watched stretches of coast in the Caribbean — and a meaningful new addition to the island’s growing all-inclusive lineup.
The property sits beachfront on Barbados’s famed Platinum Coast (also known as the Gold Coast) — a stretch of calm, west-facing Caribbean Sea and powdery white sand that has long been home to some of the most exclusive resorts in the Eastern Caribbean. It’s also just steps from the island’s premier luxury shopping and lifestyle district, and approximately 30 minutes from Grantley Adams International Airport.
“The opening of Royalton Vessence Barbados represents one of the most meaningful milestones in our company’s evolution,” said Jordi Pelfort, president of Royalton Hotels & Resorts. “Barbados has long been one of the Caribbean’s most iconic destinations, recognized for its culture, character, and vibrant energy. Bringing our first property to the island gave us the opportunity to create something different, a resort designed not simply around where guests stay, but around how they experience the destination itself.”
The hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program under the Autograph Collection brand — meaning Bonvoy members can earn and redeem points on stays.
The Rooms
The resort has 220 modern suites across multiple categories, designed to reflect the spirit of Barbados through natural textures, locally inspired materials and subtle cultural references.
Travelers can choose from oceanfront suites, swim-out categories — which open directly onto a pool from the room — and elevated Diamond Club accommodations with personalized butler service and exclusive access to dedicated spaces throughout the resort.
At the highest tier, Royalton Suites & Villas introduces spacious Presidential and Chairman Suites designed for guests seeking added privacy and a more elevated all-inclusive experience.
The Food and Drink
The food and beverage program is one of the property’s biggest statements — and one of the more ambitious lineups at any new all-inclusive opening in the Caribbean this year.
The resort has 17 food and beverage outlets in total, including five specialty à la carte restaurants, one sports bar, two casual snack and grill concepts, four bars, four rooftop culinary venues and a café and pastry shop.
The signature restaurants include Moi Aussi for French cuisine, Kai for Asian flavors, Hunter Steakhouse for premium cuts and La Scala Italian Trattoria for the brand’s signature Italian concept.
The biggest single statement is The Rooftop, which houses four exclusive culinary venues with panoramic ocean views and curated sunset programming. It’s one of the more design-driven rooftop bar setups at any Caribbean all-inclusive right now — and one of the property’s strongest single amenities.
The Pools, Spa and Wellness
The resort’s wellness program is positioned as one of its core differentiators.
The Royal Spa offers hydrotherapy rituals and immersive treatment experiences designed to go beyond traditional resort spa programming. Moddo Fitness by Royalton FIT anchors the active side, with fitness programming, mindfulness spaces and dedicated digital detox areas built into the daily rhythm of the property.
The broader resort design leans into a slower, more present pace — a direct response to the kind of immersive, less rushed travel experience that increasingly defines the high-end all-inclusive category.
The Cultural Programming
The cultural side of the property is one of its more distinctive features.
Royalton Vessence Barbados has built a dedicated cultural and creative program across the resort, with art exhibitions, locally inspired augmented-reality installations and rotating cultural moments designed to spotlight the island’s artistic spirit.
The Studio is the centerpiece — a creative space where guests can connect with local artists, participate in painting, pottery and hands-on workshops, or enjoy live music and cultural programming that evolves throughout the day.
It’s a programming layer that has become increasingly central to how higher-end all-inclusive properties differentiate, and one of the strongest cultural integrations at any new all-inclusive opening in the region this year.
Using Points
The Marriott Bonvoy integration is one of the more meaningful angles of the opening for points-and-miles travelers. As a full participant in Marriott Bonvoy, Royalton Vessence Barbados allows guests to both earn and redeem points on all-inclusive stays — including on the food, drinks and resort amenities bundled into the rate, not just the room.
That’s a meaningful distinction from how many traditional hotel loyalty programs treat all-inclusive properties, and it makes the resort one of the more attractive options in Barbados for travelers sitting on a Bonvoy balance.
The resort is expected to fall into the mid-to-upper range of the Bonvoy award chart, in line with other Royalton Autograph Collection all-inclusive properties across the Caribbean and Mexico, which typically run from around 40,000 to 70,000 points per night depending on category and season. Bonvoy’s standard fifth-night-free benefit on award stays of five nights or longer also applies, which can stretch a points balance significantly on a full week in Barbados.
The Bigger Picture
The opening of Royalton Vessence Barbados is significant in several ways that extend beyond the single property.
It confirms that the all-inclusive segment has officially become a category that the most established luxury hospitality programs in the world are willing to expand into — not as a side project, but as a flagship expression of a brand’s evolution. The fact that Royalton has chosen to introduce its new Vessence sub-brand globally with this property — and not in Mexico, where the company has its deepest portfolio — shows how the leadership at the company views Barbados as the right stage for the brand’s debut.
What It Costs to Stay at Royalton Vessence Barbados
I found rooms in June for about $867 per night on the Marriott website. That gets you a junior suite with a garden view. For a butler-service junior suite with a king or two queens, the rate goes up to $1,139 per night. For a butler-service swim-out room, you’re looking at $1,800 per night.
