Omega continues its long-running partnership with James Bond with the new Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph 007 First Light. This time, however, the inspiration does not come from the silver screen. Instead, the watch debuts alongside the upcoming 007 First Light video game from IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios.
The watch appears in the game as a functional mission tool for Bond, complete with fictional hacking and laser capabilities. In reality, Omega translates that digital concept into a fully mechanical Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph. According to the brand, this marks the first chronograph within the James Bond Seamaster Diver 300M line.
Omega and James Bond: Three decades together
Omega’s relationship with James Bond started in 1995, when Pierce Brosnan wore a Seamaster Diver 300M in GoldenEye. Costume designer Lindy Hemming reportedly selected the watch because it suited Bond’s naval background and modern character. Since then, both James Bond actors — Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig — have worn Omega watches on screen. Over the past 30 years, the Seamaster collection has become inseparable from the franchise. Omega has also released numerous Bond-themed limited and special editions, ranging from subtle tributes to more overt commemorative pieces.
This new 007 First Light edition takes a slightly different route. Instead of celebrating a film, it introduces a younger (26-year-old) Bond through gaming culture and connects the Seamaster line to a new audience.
A familiar Seamaster formula with new details
The watch uses the familiar Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph architecture, featuring a 44mm stainless steel case with a 300m depth rating. Omega combines brushed and polished finishes throughout the case and adds black ceramic pushers to match the ceramic bezel insert. This bezel features a white enamel diving scale and a luminous pip at 12 o’clock. The signature helium escape valve remains at 10 o’clock.
The dial stays close to the modern Seamaster design language, displaying laser-engraved waves on a black ceramic surface. However, Omega introduces several details unique to this edition. The chronograph sub-dial at 3 o’clock features a ring treated with Bronze Gold PVD, while the central chronograph seconds hand matches it in warm tone. The “Seamaster” text appears in red, adding another subtle accent. Like other modern Seamaster models, the watch uses different Super-LumiNova colors for orientation underwater. Blue lume appears on most indications, while the minute hand and bezel pip glow green.
The NATO strap connects the watch to Bond lore
One of the most recognizable elements of the watch is its NATO strap. Omega uses a black, gray, and beige striped pattern inspired by the strap seen in Dr. No and No Time To Die, although the layout differs slightly here. The Grade 5 titanium buckle and keepers feature engraved “007” and “FIRST LIGHT” markings, while the presentation box draws inspiration from the equipment cases seen in the game. Omega also plans to offer six additional NATO straps separately, each based on versions that players can use in the game.
Caliber 9900 powers the watch
Inside beats Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 9900, an automatic chronograph movement with a 60-hour power reserve. The movement displays running seconds at 9 o’clock and a combined 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph recorder at 3 o’clock. As expected, the caliber carries Master Chronometer certification for accuracy, magnetism resistance, and overall performance. Through the case back’s sapphire display, owners can also see a black metallized “007 FIRST LIGHT” logo printed on the crystal.
Omega’s Bond editions often divide collectors between those who enjoy the connection to the franchise and those who prefer standard-production Seamasters. This new 007 First Light model adds gaming culture into the mix as well.
At retail, the watch will cost €9,200 (inc. VAT) / US$9,400 (ex. sales tax) / CHF 7,300 (ex. VAT). More information is available via the Omega website.
What do you think? Does this chronograph bring something genuinely new to the Bond-Seamaster story, or would you still choose one of the earlier film-related editions instead?
