
Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, the luxury, family-friendly resort located along Cable Beach on the picturesque island of New Providence, The Bahamas, today welcomes Steven J. Smith as Managing Director. With an accomplished hospitality career spanning more than 40 years with Hyatt, Smith is recognized for delivering strong financial performance, elevating operations, and building meaningful partnerships within each community he has served.
As Managing Director, Smith will guide the resort’s day-to-day operations and long-term property strategy, working alongside the leadership team to advance operational excellence and reinforce Grand Hyatt Baha Mar’s reputation for exceptional service and memorable guest experiences.

Smith most recently served as General Manager of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Villas in San Antonio, Texas, Smith led the resort’s operations with a focus on revenue growth, enhancing guest satisfaction, and cultivating a strong team culture. He previously held General Manager roles at Hyatt Regency Houston, Grand Hyatt Washington, Hyatt Regency Washington, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, and Hyatt Regency Bellevue.
Throughout his career, Smith has been honored for his leadership and industry impact, including being named General Manager of the Year by the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. He has also served on several industry and tourism boards, including Destination DC and Visit Houston, reflecting his longstanding commitment to community engagement and hospitality leadership. With extensive experience across both urban and resort environments, Smith is exceptionally well-positioned to lead Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in this new role.
