【F】 Hamilton Gets Into Character For Disclosure Day

It’s hard to believe, but we’re approaching summer blockbuster season in cinemas. Who better to rule the silver screens than the original hitmaker, Steven Spielberg? On June 12th, his latest movie, Disclosure Day, will debut. Two of the leading characters will don Hamilton watches. Let’s have a look at these two very different pieces.

From Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey to the most recent Indiana Jones adventure, Hamilton has a way of making its way onto the big screen. Interstellar was probably one of the most significant inclusions in a film, and the watch even played a significant role. For 2026, Hamilton is back, and two watches play a part in the upcoming thriller, Disclosure Day.

Disclosure Day, the film

Before we get to the watches, here’s a brief overview of the upcoming film Disclosure Day. Josh O’Connor, seen above, plays whistleblower Daniel Kellner, who, along with Emily Blunt’s meteorologist character, Margaret Fairchild, tries to disclose the existence of aliens on Earth. High-ranking government officials, including Colin Firth’s character. Noah Scanlon, try to prevent this and the disruption of order as we know it. Kellner and Scanlon both wear Hamilton watches. Let’s have a closer look.

The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm

The first watch is a familiar face for us here at Fratello. The Hamilton Khaki Mechanical 38mm has long been a favorite among us due to its back-to-basics military design and hand-winding movement. In Disclosure Day, the watch is the daily driver for O’Connor’s character, Daniel Kellner. As the name implies, it features a 38mm case, which has a 47mm case lug-to-lug and a slim 9.5mm profile. This stainless steel case also features a black PVD coating and comes fitted with a dark gray NATO strap.

Inside, the watch uses the Hamilton H-50 caliber with a 21,600vph frequency and 80 hours of power reserve. True to its utilitarian roots, the movement is secreted away beneath a screw-in stainless steel case back. Otherwise, the watch has a water resistance rating of 50 meters and a sapphire crystal. White printing is contrasted against a black dial with triangular Old Radium Super-LumiNova indexes. Thankfully, this black beauty is not a limited edition and is still one of the best values on the market at €695 / US$745 / £615.

The Hamilton Jazzmaster Open Heart Auto 40mm

To spice things up for Colin Firth’s big government character in Disclosure Day, Noah Scanlon wears a Jazzmaster Open Heart Auto 40mm. This watch has a brushed and polished stainless steel case with an approximately 48mm lug-to-lug length and an 11.05mm thickness. Like the Khaki, it also has a 50m water resistance rating and a sapphire crystal, but this watch trades the all-steel case back for a display option. The model name rightly explains the partially open-worked sections of the dial. The rest is dark blue with a gradient to black toward the edges. As this is a dressier piece, it has a brown leather strap and a pin buckle. Inside, the watch uses the brand’s H-10 automatic movement. This caliber also has a 21,600vph frequency and 80 hours of power reserve. Once again, this is not a limited edition, and it retails for €1,145 / US$1,295 / £990.

Final thoughts on the Disclosure Day watches

I don’t get to the movies as often as I’d like, but Disclosure Day looks like it has all the makings of a suspenseful, edge-of-the-seat hit. Plus, I’ll now have a couple of Hamilton watches to look out for on the screen. Both are fine watches, and even though I’ll always have a soft spot for the Khaki Field Mechanical, the Jazzmaster is also a cool piece. Let us know your thoughts on the pair and if you’ll be heading to the theater in June.
