What watch would you buy with €5k in your pocket today? And what if you could spend no less than €4,500? That’s the hypothetical dilemma we’re tackling on Fratello Talks today. RJ, Daan, and Nacho have taken the challenge, and in this week’s episode, they go through their picks. They were shocked at how few watches actually land within the price point, with Tudor holding the lion’s share of options. Still, they managed to put together a varied series of watches, both new and pre-owned. Be sure to tune in if you want to hear about the watches they’d buy for €5,000 today. Before getting into it, though, it’s time for a wrist check.

We begin with the bossman himself, RJ, who is wearing his Omega Speedmaster Professional. This is the current Moonwatch (ref. 310.30.42.50.01.001), released in 2021, which means it has been with him for just over five years. If you want to read RJ’s long-term owner’s review, you can find it here.
Daan is rocking his Rolex Explorer (ref. 114270) from the early 2000s. This, alongside his Santos and Speedy, is one of his most frequently worn watches. And can you blame him? The appeal of the classic 36mm Explorer is undeniable. And though some consider it a somewhat boring choice, it shines in its simple brilliance as one of Rolex’s last (and arguably remaining) tool watches.
Nacho is sticking to his guns with the Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Worldtimer Jungle edition. This is the watch that accompanied him on his recent trip to LA (where he put its GMT function to good use). He has paired it with a matching khaki-green NATO strap to complete the look. Given the recent track record, we wouldn’t be surprised if, come the end of 2026, this is his most worn watch.
Fratello Talks: New and Pre-Owned Watches We’d Buy For €5,000
Now, when it comes to these sorts of budget challenges, we tend to be pretty flexible. Typically, we each select three to five watches that land under the price limit and call it a day. Today’s challenge is slightly different: the guys must spend at least 90% of their €5,000 allocation on a single watch. To make it more fun and add variety, they’ve each included both a new watch and a pre-owned option. And though you’ll have to tune in to find out their picks, we’ve dropped some hints with the images you’ll find in this article.
Be sure to tune in next week for another episode of Fratello Talks. And until then, let us know which watches you’d buy, new or pre-owned, for €5,000 (and no less than €4,500) in the comments section.
