eBay Finds: A Rare Omega Seamaster, a Vintage Hamilton Chronograph, and an Unusual Mystery LED Watch

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion.

Vintage Omega Constellation

To start you off this week with something a little fancy, this vintage Omega Constellation. This one has to be from the late 1970s or early 1980s judging from the design. It has a slim (34mm) square steel case with a square dial and integrated bracelet. It’s not blingy, but I call it fancy because it just has that slim almost 80’s look that just seems….fancy. The silver dial has a vertical texture to it, with slim markers and slimmer hands. The original crystal has a date magnifier for the date window at 3 o’clock. The recessed crown is signed with the Omega logo as it should be. The steel bracelet is also signed and integrated into the case. The caseback medallion is engraved instead of the applied gold one often seen on the Constellations. No movement pictures but it runs well per the seller.

Vintage LED Watch

It’s been a minute since I found a good LED watch, but this week I found a fun one. This one appears to be unbranded, which is unusual. It has the classic vintage LED space age style case. The case is a good size at 35mm and in nice condition, with sharp edges and original brushed finish. The red LED window is good as well, and the watch works with no missing segments. The watch comes on what looks like the original steel h-link bracelet. Fun piece in great cosmetic and working condition that should be very affordable.

Vintage Seiko 6139-7070

Next up we have a real beauty, a vintage Seiko 6139-7070 chronograph “Baby Jumbo”. The name comes from the fact that this model looks very similar to the 6138-3002 chronograph that is, you guessed it, larger! This one is fantastic though, and is not small despite the name at 39mm wide. The not so baby case is unpolished, with crisp edges and the original brushed finish. The metallic blue dial is spectacular, and is original and in amazing condition. The 6139 is an automatic movement with a single chronograph sub dial at 6 o’clock and a day/date window at 3 o’clock. The day and date are separated by a piece of dial, and the date cuts into the raised outer portion of the dial, which gives the whole dial a beautiful multi-level look. The watch comes on the correct and original steel bracelet, which is always good to find with these vintage Seikos. No movement pictures but the watch runs and functions well per the seller.

1958 Omega Seamaster

Here’s a real gem for your bidding pleasure! A vintage 1958 Omega Seamaster with an original black dial. This is a true rarity. Omega did not make many black dialed Seamasters, and they are very hard to find. To be honest, most that you will see have been redialed. I’ve looked closely at the pictures and I do believe the seller that this dial is original. The font looks correct, it has “Swiss Made” at the very bottom edge of the dial, and you can see some faint patina on the dial. The dial is super clean, and has awesome thin arrow markers in yellow gold color. Gold dauphine hands also look correct. The case is the classic Seamaster “fat lug” style, and it looks unpolished, with clear and sharp chamfers on the lugs. The crown is the correct clover leaf style and signed with the Omega symbol as it should. The automatic movement looks clean and runs well per the seller. This is a rare opportunity to acquire what I believe to be an original black dial fat lug Seamaster. Get your credit card out because I expect this one to be pricey!

Vintage Benrus

This next one should be more wallet-friendly than the Omega above, but this vintage Benrus is still cool. The 33mm steel case has nice fancy lugs, and looks to be in superb condition. Even the caseback still has a nice vertically brushed finish. The white dial is clean, and has really attractive applied steel Arabic numeral hour markers in an Art Deco stylized font. Large lume filled steel dauphine hands complete the look. The crown is original and signed with the Benrus name as it should. No movement pictures but the watch runs well per the seller. This is a great, affordable watch with lots of style from a respectable brand.

Hamilton Chrono-Matic

Finishing off this week with another banger, this vintage Hamilton Chrono-Matic chronograph. The Chrono-Matic has an unusual design, with the two pushers on the right as normal, but the crown is placed at 9 o’clock. The steel case looks like it might have been lightly polished, but is still sharp. The dial is a gorgeous slate blue, with a silver outer tachymeter track that really stands out. The dual subdials are the same color as the rest of the dial, and there’s a date window at 3 o’clock. Just a really sharp, cool looking vintage chronograph from a storied watch manufacture. It is powered by the manual wind caliber 11 movement that is super clean and runs and functions well per the seller. If you’re in the market for a vintage chronograph, give this one a long look.
