Sandals Is Launching a World Cup-Themed Vacation Program in Curaçao

Curaçao has never seen a moment like this. The island has officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the smallest country ever to reach the tournament. Across the island, the achievement has sparked celebrations, street pride and a surge of national energy tied to the sport locals simply call futbòl.

This summer, that excitement will extend directly into one of the island’s most high-profile resorts. Sandals Royal Curaçao is launching a limited-time guest program called “Vacation Goals: Curaçao Edition,” designed to turn the global soccer tournament into an immersive Caribbean experience for travelers visiting the island during the competition.

Running from June 11 through July 19, 2026, the program blends watch parties, cultural excursions and themed culinary experiences, giving guests a way to experience Curaçao’s historic soccer moment while on vacation.

The result is part celebration, part cultural immersion, and part beachside World Cup festival.

Game Day in Paradise

During the tournament window, Sandals Royal Curaçao will transform its beachfront resort environment into a gathering point for fans following the matches.

Large viewing events will air games throughout the competition, creating lively watch parties where guests can cheer for their national teams while overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The resort will also set up goal posts and provide soccer balls around the property, encouraging guests to jump into informal games and friendly competition between matches.

Food and drink will play a central role in the experience. The resort plans to feature rotating game-day menus inspired by the countries competing in the tournament, with each dish interpreted through a Caribbean lens.

A special cocktail menu will spotlight the tournament’s host nations — Canada, the United States and Mexico — with themed drinks representing each destination. Guests who prefer alcohol-free options will also find zero-proof cocktails included in the lineup.

The overall goal is to capture the communal energy of the World Cup while pairing it with the relaxed atmosphere of a Caribbean resort.

Exploring Curaçao’s Soccer Culture

The experience won’t remain confined to the resort.

Sandals’ excursion partner Island Routes is launching a special guided experience called the Curaçao Futbòl Culture Tour, available exclusively during June and July while the tournament is underway.

The four-hour tour focuses on the island’s deep connection to the sport and its national pride during this historic year.

One stop includes Stadion Ergilio Hato, the home stadium where many of the island’s best players train and compete. Guides share stories about the country’s soccer development, notable athletes and the road to World Cup qualification.

Guests will also explore the historic streets of Willemstad, including the colorful waterfront district of Handelskade, where murals and local gathering spots reflect the island’s vibrant culture. The walk includes photo opportunities highlighting Curaçao’s art, architecture and football pride.

The tour concludes with a tasting experience at the Chobolobo distillery, the birthplace of the island’s famous blue liqueur.

Island Routes has scheduled the excursion every Tuesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., departing directly from Sandals Royal Curaçao throughout June and July.

Supporting the Next Generation of Players

The tournament spotlight is also tied to a longer-term initiative on the island.

Through the Sandals Foundation’s “Future Goals” program, plastic waste collected locally is repurposed into soccer equipment that is donated to elementary schools across Curaçao. The initiative supports youth athletics while helping address environmental challenges on the island.

The program reflects the widespread enthusiasm around the national team’s World Cup qualification and the role the sport plays in local communities.

A Unique Moment for Curaçao

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be staged across Canada, the United States and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament has been hosted by three countries.

Curaçao’s appearance adds an unexpected storyline to the global competition. The Caribbean island of about 150,000 residents will take the field alongside the world’s largest soccer nations.

That sense of pride and celebration is exactly what Sandals Royal Curaçao is hoping travelers will feel when they arrive during the tournament window.

Guests will still find the resort’s signature amenities — oceanfront suites, infinity pools, international dining and access to the island’s beaches and cultural sites — but this summer the atmosphere will include something extra.

Every match becomes a shared event.

And in Curaçao, that shared moment carries the excitement of history in the making
