You never knew you wanted diamonds until you saw the two sparkling versions of the Beda’a Angles Mecaline Diamond Edition. Now what? Well, first of all, you need to choose between the Black and the Warm Gray versions, both adorned with a bezel and lugs set with 1.1 carats of diamonds. After that, you need to figure out if the price of the bright new Angles Mecaline — approximately US$5,353 before taxes — fits your budget. And if you can fit it in, you need to find out how to get one. And that’s not going to be all that easy because of two things. First, the Angles Mecaline is a hot commodity, and second, only a few pieces will be made per quarter.
Yes, we at Fratello have been fans of the handsome Beda’a Angles Mecaline since the very first time we set eyes on it. The mechanical versions of the Qatari brand’s Angles design are the perfect evolution of the quartz series introduced in the second half of 2024. Now, almost two years later, the Diamond Edition debuts in two versions. Both are handsome but also a bit more dandy-like, meaning they’re very much in touch with the current zeitgeist, in which flamboyant dress watches are the light of the party. Both diamond-encrusted creations are lovely, but which do you prefer? I’m asking you because I can’t seem to be able to choose between the Black and the Warm Gray.
The sparkling Beda’a Angles Mecaline Diamond Edition
Beda’a uplifts elegance with a sparkle in a world where elegant watches are on the rise. The two Angles Mecaline Diamond Edition watches have precisely the same proportions as the non-diamond-set versions. The movement also remains the same, a hand-wound ETA 7001 offering around 42 hours of power reserve. The choice of movement stems from availability and price, I’m sure, but also the fact that this caliber is widely regarded for its reliability and ease of maintenance.
Unlike the regular models, the diamond-set versions don’t come with an Espom leather strap. These bejeweled ones needed something a bit more luxurious, according to Beda’a. The Black and Warm Gray variants of the new watch are paired with black and maroon alligator leather straps, respectively — a good choice.
Flash those diamonds
Although the flashy diamonds are impossible to ignore, the minimalism of the original Angles Mecaline remains. That means you will find no hour markers on the dial. But there is a sub-seconds register at 6 o’clock. This sub-dial is designed in a sector style and features a semi-matte sunray or circular finish on a glossy backdrop.
The Angles Mecaline’s distinct shape, together with its minimalism, dial color, and diamonds, continues to convince the Fratello team of its lively, contemporary character. And who would have thought a year ago that most of the Fratelli are now considering wearing/flashing diamonds?
After seeing the two versions of the Beda’a Angles Mecaline Diamond Edition, are you contemplating buying a diamond-set watch as well? Please leave your contemplations in the comments section.
