While earning COSC (Contôle Officiel Suisse des Chonomètres) certification is an independent, regulated, stringent exercise in verifying precision, process, quality, and consistency in manufacturing, the Geneva Seal, or Poinçon de Geneve, is awarded on a somewhat more artistic basis: a mechanical watch must be wholly created within the Canton of Geneva under demanding craftsmanship, decoration, and reliability standards.
