eBay Finds: Vintage Watches from Omega, Bulova, Waltham, and More!

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion.

Vintage Omega DeVille

Starting off this week with a beautiful vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille. The DeVille is of course Omega’s dressy version of their iconic Seamaster line. This example has a 34mm wide yellow gold capped case in nice shape, looking unpolished with crisp edges on the super thin lugs. The caseback Hippocampus medallion is nice and clear. The gold dial has a delightful linen texture, with stick markers and stick hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock. The original crown has nice deep grooves, and is signed with the Omega symbol as it should. The case is a front-loading type and there are no movement pictures, but the watch runs per the seller.

Vintage Bulova with Box and Papers

Here is a nice little vintage Bulova, complete with original box and papers. The seller doesn’t state the size, but I’m guessing the steel case is probably 33-34mm wide. The case is sharp, with nice fancy lugs and a relatively broad bezel. The silvery dial has a military style look, with painted lume Arabic numerals and lume filled sword hands. The crown is signed with the Bulova logo. The watch comes on a cool looking steel stretch bracelet that may or not be original to the watch, but it is for sure period correct. The watch also comes with the inner and outer boxes, as well as the owners guide/warranty booklet. No movement pictures but it runs well per the seller.

Vintage Lucien Piccard

Next up is a sleek vintage Lucien Piccard (sadly no relation to Captain Piccard…), complete with box and papers. The round steel case is in nice shape, with a curved bezel and thin lugs. The gray dial has thin stick markers and stick hands, no date window and no second hand. Very simple looking dress watch. The watch comes on a nice leather (croc?) strap that complements it well and from the looks of it could be original. The tiny crown is signed with the Lucien Piccard logo. The watch comes with an original box (which is pretty cool) and guarantee booklet. No movement pictures, but it runs well per the seller.

Vintage Waltham Diver

Here we have a great vintage diver. Waltham isn’t really known for their divers, but they did make a few models. This one has a nice solid steel case, unpolished with sharp edges and nice thick lugs. The black dial has applied steel markers that have lume, and wide steel hands with lume plots at the ends. There is a day/date window at 3 o’clock. The aluminum elapsed time bezel is absolutely mint, which is rare with this type of bezel. The large crown is signed with the Waltham “W” logo, and the watch comes on a vintage Tropic style rubber strap, the perfect complement for a vintage diver. Again, no movement pictures but runs well per the seller.

Vintage Gruen

This vintage Gruen looks simple, but has loads of vintage style packed in. The round steel case has a broad flat bezel, and semi curved lugs that blend with the case nicely. The white(ish) dial is really nice, and in spectacular condition. It features small applied steel arrows that are lume filled for hour markers, with two of these arrows at 12 o’clock. The dauphine hands are lume filled and in equally great condition. The steel stretch band may or may not be original, but it looks really cool either way. No movement pictures, but the seller states it’s a bumper automatic movement and runs well.

Vintage Lord Elgin Black Knight

Last up is a real gem, the famous vintage Lord Elgin Black Knight. This may be small, coming in at 27mm wide, but the case shape is iconic. A round case with a sort of rounded/hooded lug design that is unique. I don’t describe it well so you’ll have to look yourself to see what I mean. The case is yellow gold filled and looks to be in nice shape. The black dial has a honeycomb texture, with a sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. It comes on a yellow stretch band that frankly needs to be replaced with a nice black croc or lizard strap to give it the elegant look it deserves. Fantastic “space age” design that really stands out. The manual wind Elgin 680 movement is clean as a whistle and runs well per the seller. This is one you don’t see often in this shape at auction.
