eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at [email protected] for potential inclusion.
Vintage Seiko Bell-Matic 4006-6010
Starting this week off with a solid vintage Seiko Bell-Matic alarm watch. The steel case is nice, unpolished with sharp edges. The silver dial has a cool linen texture that gives it a great vintage look. Applied, raised steel markers with dauphine hands and the classic Seiko day/date window at three complete the look. Overall this is a clean example of a Bell-Matic. The only bummer is that it doesn’t come on the original bracelet. However, slap a nice leather or croc strap on this and you’ll have a gem! No movement picture but the seller states the watch runs well.
Vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille
Looking for a nice treat for yourself for the holidays? Check out this sweet vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille. The DeVille is Omega’s dress watch version of their iconic Seamaster line, and this example would be from the 1960s. The slim yellow gold filled case is superb and unpolished. You can still see the subtle chamfers on the delicate lugs. The classic Omega silver dial is super clean, with slim stick markers and stick hands. There is an applied gold Omega symbol and name at twelve. The Omega signed crown is correct and original. The caseback has a well preserved Hippocampus logo medallion on the back. No movement pictures but the watch runs well per the seller.
Vintage Bulova Sea King
Next up is another gold filled watch, not quite on the level of the DeVille above but nice nevertheless. This Bulova Sea King has a great yellow gold fill case, with cool beveled edges that are quite crisp. The gold dial has gold stick markers and gold stick hands, with a day/date window at 3. The Bulova Sea Kings were a solid line of watches that were sort of sporty/dressy, and had the neat whale logo on the dial. Once again, there is no movement picture (get some case wrenches eBay sellers!), but runs well per the seller. This is a nice piece that won’t stress your holiday budget.
Vintage Longines with Original Box & Papers
This vintage Longines is a real stunner, and one that I’ve only seen a couple of times. The case is smaller (no measurement given, but looks 32-34mm), and is solid 14k yellow gold. It features a unique design with see-though square corners for the lugs, and engraved hour marks on the bezel. There is a personalized gift engraving on the back, dated 1963. The champagne dial has a slightly darker outer track, and applied stylized Roman numeral markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The dial is excellent, and looks original to me. The watch comes on a stretch bracelet that should be replaced with a nice lizard strap if you ask me. This beauty comes with the original box and guarantee papers. Again, no movement picture but runs per the seller.
Vintage Benrus
This vintage Benrus is a great looking watch that should definitely be wallet friendly. The dial has a Polerouter-esque design (yes, I’m reaching a bit, but squint and you’ll see what I mean) that is really sharp. Black dial with silver outer track that has applied steel baton markers. The hands are broad baton hands that have a thick black line and lume filled tips. The steel case is clean and unpolished, with the caseback exhibiting the original straight brushed finish. The crown appears to have the Benrus “B” logo as it should. This one is a front-loading case so again, no movement picture (didn’t realize this would be this week’s theme…), but runs per the seller.
Vintage Speidel LCD Watch
Last up is an unusual vintage LCD from Speidel. Speidel is of course well known for making bracelets and straps, but I’ve never seen a Speidel watch. They must have wanted to get in on the LCD craze of the 1970s. This one has a gold filled case with a gold “dial” around the LCD window. The display looks to be fully functioning and the watch is telling time. Overall this is in really nice condition, and it’s a piece that frankly is kind of rare. Would make a fun addition to any vintage watch collection.
