Marriott is adding a major new luxury resort to the Costa Mujeres coastline with the planned debut of The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancun, a luxe retreat set north of the city in one of Quintana Roo’s fastest-growing beach destinations.
The plan is for the resort to open in the second half of 2026, according to Marriott.
The new resort brings the St. Regis brand to a stretch of shoreline known for quiet beaches, deep-blue water, and easy access to Isla Mujeres. It’s designed as a modern, coastal escape for travelers looking for a more secluded alternative to Cancun’s traditional hotel zone, but with the same level of dining, service, and amenities that define the St. Regis portfolio.
Another New St. Regis, More Mexican Expansion
It will be the second St. Regis in the Mexican Caribbean, along with the St. Regis Kanai, which opened its doors in 2023.
Marriott last year opened a new all-inclusive just across the water, Almare, the luxury collection resort on Isla Mujeres.
The St. Regis brand has been steadily expanding in the Caribbean, having opened another new Caribbean resort earlier this year in Aruba.
The Location
The property overlooks the Caribbean from the continental side of Isla Mujeres and blends contemporary design with a strong sense of place — from ocean-view pools and handcrafted cocktails served on the terrace to cuisine inspired by the region’s seafood and coastal markets. Guests can explore nearby reefs by boat, spend the afternoon at the pool, or unwind in suites designed for longer stays and quieter days.
The resort will feature three restaurants, multiple pools including a whirlpool, a fitness center, and dedicated meeting and event space. Rooms and suites emphasize spacious layouts and panoramic views, and the hotel’s signature service culture — including personalized attention throughout the stay — anchors the experience.
The Growth of Costa Mujeres
Costa Mujeres, often called the “New Cancun,” continues to grow as one of the Riviera’s most sought-after hotel development spots, with new development, improved access via Cancun International Airport, and expanding demand from travelers seeking a calmer, more exclusive setting. The opening of a St. Regis adds another level of international prestige to the area, positioning it as one of the region’s top new luxury corridors.
The resort is located along Carretera Puerto Juárez–Punta Sam, with convenient access to ferry connections to Isla Mujeres and a short drive to Cancun International Airport. Guests can now book stays, with reservations open and availability listed on Marriott’s official site.
