One of the many things we love about Taco Bell is that the fast food chain doesn’t take itself too seriously. Now, the beloved brand is bringing its tongue-in-cheek approach to the holiday season with the arrival of an intriguing pie that’s just in time for your Friendsgiving gatherings.
A citrusy new dessert with a neon hue is heading to Taco Bell locations nationwide. Yes, Taco Bell is finally selling a Mountain Dew Baja Blast Pie, infused with the flavor of the tropical, lime-flavored soda.
While this might sound (and look) unappealing at first, the dessert is described as tasting similar to a key lime pie — complete with a graham cracker crust and whipped cream on top — which is something we could get on board with.
The fast food chain first teased the idea of a Baja Blast Pie at its Live Más convention in March, and the preview left a lasting impression on customers online. As Taco Bell explains in a press release, “Driven by a wave of fan-made memes, the community kept the dream alive until Taco Bell finally made it fork-ready for the fans.”
While the Baja Blast Pie will be sold at Taco Bell locations nationwide, it’s only available in limited quantities, marking what the brand describes as “one of Taco Bell’s most exclusive fan launches ever.”
You can find the $20 dessert in-store at participating Taco Bell locations across the country — exclusively at the front counter or drive-thru — with a strict limit of one pie per order. It’s only offered as a whole pie, without the option to purchase individual slices.
The Baja Blast Pie will be available beginning on November 6 for a limited time as long as supplies last, so serious fans should sprint to grab one before their local Taco Bell sells out.
If you want a smaller sampling of the tart, vivid-blue pie without needing to purchase an entire dessert, Taco Bell is offering one other way to taste-test it for yourself.
The Mountain Dew Baja Blast Pie Chiller Beverage — a “sweet and creamy frozen blended beverage” with pieces of the Baja Blast Pie blended into a vanilla ice cream base — heads to select Live Más Cafés in Southern California and Texas on November 6 for a limited time.
For fans who aren’t able to snag a Baja Blast Pie before they sell out, consider this your sign to whip up a more traditional key lime pie for Friendsgiving, perhaps with a touch of blue food coloring to complete the Taco Bell-inspired experience.
