We’ll level with you: Hosting Thanksgiving can be really intimidating, especially if you’re cooking for a larger crowd than usual. Getting advice from a trusted source can make all the difference.
Butterball has partnered with chef apparel brand Hedley & Bennett to create a practical and suitable Turkey Day uniform — and these Thanksgiving Hosting Pants are designed to assist home chefs during this busy holiday. Each pair features six thoughtful details to make cooking easier, including dedicated thermometer pockets and loops for kitchen tools.
And yes, you might even win a pair. About 37% of millennials feel intimidated by the turkey cooking process, according to the 2025 Butterball Togetherness Report. A far larger group — 68% of hosts — say that wearing the right outfit helps them feel most confident, which Butterball says inspired this idea.
“It’s overwhelming to move from being a guest to being a host,” Rebecca Welch, Butterball director of retail and international brand marketing, tells Food & Wine. “When you’re a host, suddenly you’re in charge of the whole day: Making the meal, cooking the turkey, making sure that everyone’s having a great time. You’re keeping the day on schedule, and that’s stressful.”
This is Hedley & Bennett’s first pair of pants since its founding in 2012. And as founder Ellen Bennett tells Food & Wine, the partnership perfectly captures the brand’s vision for a “superfunctional and supercomfortable” approach. “Butterball and Hedley & Bennett are very different, but in our souls, we’re both super nerdy about bringing people function and ease, plus confidence to the kitchen,” author and designer Ellen Bennett tells Food & Wine.
Allow us to walk you through every aspect of these so-called holiday helpers.
A dedicated pocket holds a meat thermometer, which is Butterball’s top-recommended tool for the big day. (And of course, there’s also a phone pocket to consult the Turkey Talk-Line’s help at a moment’s notice.) Meanwhile, towel and utensil loops keep the most-used tools within easy reach, while a bottle opener ensures holiday drinks stay flowing. To finish it all off on a personalized note, Butterball says cheeky, pun-forward iron-on patches for a fun, playful touch.
Each pair is made from breathable cotton twill and features a digitally printed almost-abstract turkey design, a representative tells Food & Wine. Every piece at Hedley & Bennett is created in collaboration with chef feedback — and these pants, included. As Bennett shares with Food & Wine, the team planned for an “aggressive marathon of cooking” and consulted chefs during the design process. “Function first, and then the sparkle,” she says. “What’s the thing that makes it unique and interesting and different?”
How to reach the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line
You can reach Butterball’s Turkey Talk-Line in several ways this holiday season. Call 1-800-BUTTERBALL (1-800-288-8372) to speak directly with an expert, or text your turkey questions to 844-877-3456 for quick advice. You can also chat online with Butterball’s team of specialists for real-time support. The Turkey Talk-Line is available now through December 24, offering help with everything from thawing times to carving tips.
Over the 44 years that the Turkey Talk-Line has been operational, Butterball’s in-house team of experts has seen it all. About 50 food scientists, chefs, dieticians, and other specialists currently run the call center, answering questions about thawing timelines and the brining process. (These are among the top questions callers ask, a representative told Food & Wine last year.) The hotline number is printed on this pair of pants, of course—also cleverly placed upside-down so the wearer can see it easily. That’s 1-800-Butterball (1-800-288-8372) by phone, folks.
Starting at 12 p.m. today, you can visit Butterball’s dedicated platform to order a free pair. Not quick enough to get one? Additional drops are scheduled for November 10 and 17, leading up to Thanksgiving. About 600 pairs are available, as Butterball states, while supplies last.
