Class of 2008
After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Sue Zemanick arrived in New Orleans in 2002 to work at the iconic Commander’s Palace. She was appointed executive chef of Gautreau’s, a fine-dining staple of Uptown, a month before Hurricane Katrina hit. During her 11 years there, she appeared on “Top Chef” and “Top Chef Masters,” was selected as a 2008 F&W Best New Chef, and was named Best Chef: South by the James Beard Foundation in 2013. In 2018, Zemanick combined her fine-dining roots with her love of sourcing fresh produce and seafood to open Zasu, her first solo restaurant.
