Gaby Maeda



Class of 2021

Gaby Maeda grew up in Honolulu in a Japanese household, and landed in the Bay Area for culinary school. After rising through the ranks at Gary Danko, Maeda became chef de cuisine at State Bird Provisions where she embraced a melting pot of Japanese, Chinese, and Korean flavors through a Californian perspective. Today, she is executive chef of Friends and Family in Oakland, continuing to run a radically kind and inclusive kitchen.
