Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara has announced Massimiliano Ascione as its new executive chef.

Since joining Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara in July, Ascione has utilised his skills and experience to transform the culinary narrative with a distinctive blend of Mediterranean flair and global influences.

Boasting more than 20 years of industry experience, Ascione’s impressive reputation has been established through his work at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and resorts in destinations such as the UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Switzerland, Malaysia and China. Ascione has held senior positions at iconic venues including W Verbier and The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, where he led teams of up to 90 culinary professionals.

Known for his innovative approach to Mediterranean and international cuisine, Ascione has earned accolades for his creativity, precision and ability to craft memorable dining experiences which transcend borders.

Ascione will oversee Mekong, the award-winning Asian fusion restaurant, Al Mina, a Mediterranean haven by the sea and Sakalan, which is renowned for its superb breakfast and themed dinner nights. Ascione’s immediate focus is on elevating the three highly acclaimed restaurants with authentic flavours, refined techniques and a sense of storytelling which celebrates both the beauty of Oman and the traditions of his Italian heritage.
