Cruise tourism in Martinique is climbing at a strong pace in 2025, with the French Caribbean island reporting 216,641 cruise passengers from January through June — a 15.5 percent increase over the same period in 2024.
The growth underscores Martinique’s expanding presence on the Caribbean cruise map, driven by both homeport and transit calls. Fort-de-France has become an increasingly popular stop for large ships and luxury lines alike, bolstered by infrastructure investments and a strategic push to position the island as a key cruise gateway in the Eastern Caribbean.
This latest passenger count reflects sustained momentum from a record-setting 2024 season, as cruise lines continue to add Martinique to their itineraries. The island’s combination of vibrant culture, French-Caribbean cuisine, and easy access to the natural beauty of the interior has helped it stand out in a crowded regional market.
Local tourism officials say the island is preparing for an even busier winter season, with larger vessels and a broader mix of brands expected to call at Fort-de-France.
Cruise arrivals to Martinique are being fueled by a growing roster of major and boutique cruise lines. The island is featured on itineraries for MSC Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises and luxury operator PONANT, among others.
Fort-de-France has emerged as both a transit and homeport destination, offering travelers access to the island’s vibrant culture, French-Caribbean cuisine and lush natural landscapes. With an expanding lineup of ships and brands, Martinique is becoming one of the Caribbean’s most compelling cruise stops.
