Puerto Rico topped the 1 million stayover visitor mark by June — a rapid pace that continues a run of post-pandemic success for the destination.
The Island of Enchantment received 1.084 million stayover visitors through the first half, according to data provided to Caribbean Journal by the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
That was a 6.5 percent increase over the same period in 2024, and one of the highest growth rates for any destination in the region so far this year.
It’s not a surprise, given the destination’s continued, concomitant increase in passenger traffic at its main air hub, Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, as reported by ASUR, which manages the airport.
