The BrüMate Era Tumbler Is ‘100% Leakproof’

I’m a creature of habit. My tendency to stick to what I know — combined with my introverted personality and stubborn streak that verges on complete irrationality at times — means that my opinions and routines don’t change often. Naturally, when I find a brand I like, I become a loyal customer. 

Yeti is one company that earned my loyalty long ago. While my mom was talking up Owala’s water bottles and my friends were raving about the Stanley Quencher, I stayed true to my Rambler roots. But then I was introduced to the BrüMate Era — and everything changed.

Don’t get me wrong: I’m still very much a fan of Yeti’s products. However, after years of mopping up puddles because I knocked over my water bottle yet again, the Era’s leakproof lid spoke to my soul. 

As someone who struggles to drink enough water, I rely heavily on insulated tumblers with large capacities and built-in straws. Since such designs typically don’t scream “leakproof,” I didn’t think I could ever find a bottle that would be easy to sip from and spill-proof. Little did I know that BrüMate had anticipated my needs exactly with this “100% leakproof” 40-ounce bottle, complete with a stainless steel straw and a locking mechanism. When I turn the dial to “sip,” I can drink freely, and when I turn the dial to “seal,” I can hold my completely full bottle upside down for over a minute without spilling a drop of water — seriously. 

The lid has another feature that I have come to appreciate the more I learn about the bacteria, mold, and odors that can plague our water bottles: a removable straw. In addition to “sip” and “seal,” there’s a third position that lets me detach the silicone top for easy cleaning. When I unscrew the lid, I can also twist the stainless steel portion of the straw out of its locked position to wash separately. To top it off, the bottle is dishwasher-safe, insulated, available in multiple colors, and fits in my car’s cupholder. 

Seeing as more than 11,000 Amazon shoppers gave the BrüMate Era five-star ratings, I’m clearly not alone in my adoration of this bottle. “As an accident-prone adult known to spill my share of drinks, I have tried a multitude of cups and bottles. Nothing has ever met my needs quite like this cup,” wrote one reviewer. They went on to add that “once you switch from sip to lock, there isn’t a drop of anything coming out” of it, and that no other tumbler has kept their water “colder for longer.” A second Amazon shopper said it’s the “best tumbler” they have ever owned, since “it doesn’t sweat, it doesn’t leak, and it’s super easy to carry around.”

While I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Yeti, the BrüMate Era has blown me away. It fixed every problem I had with my other water bottles — even ones I didn’t know existed.
