- Karol G and Casa Dragones have released 200 Copas, a Cristalino tequila named after her song “200 Copas.”
- The tequila is made with Casa Dragones’ añejo, aged more than 12 months in custom American oak barrels before filtration.
- Karol G participated in the development process, which took several years, alongside Casa Dragones co-founder and CEO Bertha González Nieves.
To Karol G, tequila is more than a drink — it has been a companion at life’s biggest milestones. That connection is now captured in 200 Copas by Casa Dragones, a new Cristalino expression inspired by her hit song “200 Copas.”
The collaboration teams up the Latin pop star with Bertha González Nieves, Casa Dragones’ co-founder and CEO, and the first woman to be certified as a maestra tequilera. For Casa Dragones, known for expressions such as the bartender-favorite Mizunara cask and the highly praised Joven, this release marks another advancement in its expanding portfolio. For Karol G, it represents her first entrepreneurial venture in the spirits industry.
The Cristalino is made with Casa Dragones’ añejo tequila, aged for more than 12 months in custom American oak barrels before filtration.
Both Karol G and González Nieves emphasize that the project is much more involved than other so-called “celebrity tequilas” on the already crowded market — the Colombian singer worked closely with the Casa Dragones team on development, a process that took years rather than months.

The project’s name draws directly from “200 Copas,” the celebratory anthem that has garnered more than 468 million YouTube views. In the music video, Karol G and friends dance around a bonfire in Punta Mita, Mexico, raising glasses of tequila. She has described that night as a turning point, one that made her feel “reborn,” surrounded by joy, family, and music.
For her, tequila is linked not only to celebration but also to reflection — “immortalizing a moment,” as she put it in an interview with Food & Wine before a recent Paris performance during her eight-show residency, “The Tropical Nights of Ivonny Bonita at Crazy Horse Paris.” Even before the Cristalino’s official release, she quietly shared it at tour stops, using it for private toasts with her team.
Karol G notes that she wanted more than a brand with her name attached. The long timeline and commitment to quality were part of the appeal. “I think I just found the right people to do this,” she said of the Casa Dragones team.
For González Nieves, the partnership aligns with the distillery’s ethos. “We’re explorers in the tequila category. With every inch of inspiration, we get to go on a new journey,” she said, adding that “having the opportunity to create a love letter in the name of a song that became a movement with an incredible global artist… and tell the Latin story together, was like an injection of adrenaline into our hearts.”

Last year, González Nieves brought her production team to one of Karol G’s concerts in Guadalajara. The performance, she said, underscored the parallels between the singer’s work ethic and Casa Dragones’ approach to craft.
As for the tequila itself, González Nieves describes it as part of a “journey of taste.” The Cristalino carries sweet floral and cooked agave notes, layered with subtle citrus, shaped by the custom American Oak used in aging. “We believe that people who love tequila are really coming for those notes,” Nieves said. Karol G has called it a true sipping tequila. “It’s amazing to have the experience of trying the tequila in a different way,” the singer said.
While designed to be enjoyed neat, Casa Dragones also plans to collaborate with mixologists on Cristalino-forward cocktails. Karol G herself is partial to Palomas and sees the tequila as versatile enough for mixing while retaining its depth of flavor.
Ultimately, 200 Copas by Casa Dragones is an effort to merge music, memory, and craftsmanship. For Karol G, the tequila reflects her connection to moments of joy and togetherness. For Casa Dragones, this marks the brand’s continued exploration of how tequila can evolve, while reaching a global audience through the lens of one of Latin music’s most prominent stars.
