The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, the San Francisco Bay Area’s only Forbes Five-Star oceanfront resort, proudly announces the appointment of David Sobek as Director of Sales and Marketing. In this leadership role, Sobek will oversee all sales and marketing strategies for the 261-room luxury coastal retreat perched atop a scenic bluff along Northern California’s pristine coastline.

Sobek joins The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay with more than two decades of luxury hospitality experience spanning Four Seasons, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, and Marriott International. Most recently, he served as Director of Sales for The Phoenician Resort and Forbes Five-Star Canyon Suites in Scottsdale, where he led a high-performing sales team and executed data-driven strategies that delivered sustained revenue growth. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in pre-opening sales, multi-property portfolio management, and large-scale event partnerships, the likes of the Super Bowl and NCAA Final Four, consistently exceeding revenue goals and driving associate engagement.

Looking ahead, Sobek will support The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay in captivating guests with its seasonal celebrations, including the region’s famed Pumpkin Season each fall and a calendar of festive holiday dining and coastal experiences. With the Bay Area preparing to host major global events such as the FIFA World Cup 2026 and Super Bowl LX in February 2026, the resort is uniquely positioned as a premier coastal retreat for both international travelers and groups seeking Forbes Five-Star luxury within close reach of San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Under Sobek’s leadership, the sales and marketing strategy will emphasize these opportunities to attract both leisure and group travelers to the iconic Northern California destination.

In addition to his leadership roles, Sobek has contributed to the future of the industry as an Adjunct Professor at Grand Canyon University, teaching upper-level marketing and revenue management courses. He holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a BS in Business Administration from Arizona State University.
